Creating Smartboard lessons and following up. Teachers would like to come out of training with something we can use immediately. Training offered at all skill levels. Offer basic skills training. Prefer workshop or make & take format.
In addition, staff training time should be compensated if outside the contract. Such as summer, etc. Minimum of 1/2 day training. 1-2 hours not long enough. In return, thought that teachers should be accountable for using the tech training. OK with evaluation item (use of tech) or a self-reporting system. Training should be curriculum integration as much as skills (more than window dressing). Use experts on staff to lead training.
Inservice time to learn technology and then be allowed time to become comfortable or to create lessons. Some programs are extensive and felt that it is not appropriate to do all of this on own time. Would like to learn efficient ways to find activities to use.
